The Bow and Arrow
Throughout history, bows and arrows have changed with changing times. Bows were not the first composite projectile weapons to be invented - they were preceded by weapons like the sling, the throwing spear, and the atlatl. What makes the bow significant, however, is its versatility and deadly effectiveness. The invention of the bow and arrow sparked a revolution in warfare. These weapons were so effective, in fact, that they are still used in tribal warfare and in hunting today. The most basic bow was a flatbow, which is generally between 50 and 58 inches. Bows had many different designs depending on the culture. Other types of bows include the re-curve bow, the longbow, (which will be covered later) and the compound bow, which is a more modern interpretation.
